Where goods are loaded onto and unloaded from the train, and where aristocrats from other cities arrive, this is the only area in the outskirts that is actually guarded. It has to be guarded not only from monsters, but also the desperate people who live in this area who would steal the supplies or even attack the engineers/aristocrats. The soldiers who work here have strict orders to never leave their posts, and aren’t technically allowed to help someone getting attacked right in front of them.
